Security, sound & UV Q & A
How much protection do windows provide against forced entry?

Typical windows and doors provide adequate protection against forced entry. A good multi-point  locking mechanism is an excellent way of keeping the burglars at bay. The window locks in multi separate points, whick makes it virtually impossible to force entry. A night vent facility is also available with the multi-point locking mechanism.

Can windows and doors reduce outside noise?

A    All windows and doors reduce noise significantly. The best solution, however, is to use 6mm glass on the outside of the unit, and 4mm glass on the inside. This is the most effective noise insulator. However, ordinary double glazed units are a significant improvement over single glazing.

Q  Can windows keep out UV radiation that fades carpeting, furniture, draperies and upholstery?

Using a low-emissivity glass in your new windows or doors will filter more than 50 percent of the damaging UV light. The absolute most effective glass for this purpose, however, is laminated insulating glass. It features a polyvinyl butyral inner layer and a low-emissivity coating that filters more than 99 percent of UV radiation that fades interior furnishings.
